Miguel Jacob is a Peruvian-born photographer and director living in Toronto, Canada. He studied French Language and Literature and Cinema Studies at the University of Toronto and at The Sorbonne in Paris. While not formally trained in photography, Miguel has become one of the most prolific and well-respected fashion photographers in Canada, working for many of the top magazines and commercial clients. In addition to his editorial and advertising work, for clients such as FASHION Magazine, Foster’s Group, The Bay, Universal Records, and Warner Brothers, Miguel has also photographed many celebrities including Michael Bublé, The L Word’s Mia Kirshner, and One Tree Hill’s Kate Voegele. He has made guest appearances on several TV shows including Jay Manuel’s “Style Her Famous”, “Canada’s Next Top Model”, W Network’s “Candace Tells All”, and The Food Network’s “Recipe To Riches”.
Miguel has had his personal photographic work exhibited in several galleries. In 2007, he collaborated with his brother Luis Jacob, whose work was recently exhibited at the Guggenheim in New York, on a number of large-scale photographs shown at the Birch Libralato Gallery. “Always On Camera”, his most recent solo show, featured a selection of black-and-white portraits of eccentric individuals including Bruce LaBruce, Gentleman Reg and Style.com photographer Tommy Ton. Miguel has won several awards for his photography including a Honourable Mention for his portraiture at the 33rd Annual National Magazine Awards as well as the Best Magazine Cover of model Coco Rocha at the prestigious P & G Beauty Awards.
The film short “Now I Need You” is Miguel’s directorial debut.
