“Heidi’s photos feel like films and her films feel like art… all so taught and alive. She brings out sides of her subjects they didn’t even know they had – raw, gritty, decadent, sumptuous. She is a true, modern-day Auteur.” Erika Mehiel, Arts & Entertainment Editor, Z!NK Magazine.
Heidi Hartwig began shooting in the NYC music scene just after the millennium, quickly becoming a regular contributor for magazines including Fader, Spin, Oyster and Anthem. She expanded into high-fashion photography and celebrity portraiture, with work published in Z!NK, iD, Oyster, Gotham and Mean. Taking a nuanced and cinematic approach, Heidi often creates veiled narratives within each theatrical, sensual and inspired image. She has assisted some of the greats (Roxanne Lowit, Michel Comte), shot some of the greats (Sean Penn, Mel Brooks, Rhianna), and worked with leading luxury brands, but her first love was always the moving image, and in ’06 she returned to this medium. Inspired by the greatness of Jean Luc Goddard and David Lynch, Heidi has built an impressive and distinct oeuvre of music, art and fashion videos.
